Abstract
This thesis explores the dehumanization of migrants (undocumented or otherwise) in media and political discourse and seeks to re-dignify their human experience by portraying the everyday struggles of migrants in America. By providing a brief history of immigration in the U.S. and analyzing how the media and political discourses have historically dehumanized migrants, I provide a background for understanding how immigrants are perceived in the United States. I conclude by developing a visual art piece that will attempt to repair the views of immigrants’ role in American Society and re-dignify their existence.
