Abstract

This thesis focuses on the effectiveness of monetary and fiscal policy under fixed and flexible exchange rate systems through an empirical study of Canada. An analysis of the foreign sector of Canada and a review of the history of Canadian exchange rate policy have been made. An econometric model is then constructed and estimated. The multipliers are derived and the implications of the results are discussed.
