Abstract
In this paper we present a closed-form solution for vibrational imperfection sensitivity - the effect of small imperfections on the vibrational frequencies of perturbed motion around the static equilibrium state of Augusti's model structure (a rigid link, pinned at one end to a rigid foundation and supported at the other by a linear extensional spring that retains its horizontality as the system deflects). We also treat a modified version of that model with attendant slightly different dynamics. It is demonstrated that the vibrational frequency decreases as the initial imperfections increase.
