Abstract

In this study we propose a new version of interval analysis that is free of its main disadvantage, namely the overestimation. Interval variables are transformed into trigonometric functions with attendant analytical or numerical evaluation of extrema. Several examples are evaluated to shed light on the efficacy of the proposed methodology. © 2012 Taylor and Francis Group, LLC.
