Abstract

In this study we propose the single-walled carbon nanotube (SWCNT) based sensor to identify the virus attached at the end of the SWCNT. The sensor's length can be either large or small, whereas the long sensors can be analyzed via the Bernoulli-Euler elementary beam theory, the short ones call for application of refined theories. Therefore, the analysis is based on Bresse-Timoshenko beam theory. © 2012 American Society of Mechanical Engineers.
