Abstract

I discuss my painting Metamorphosis, its artistic components, and the factors in its creation. Painting is a laborious process, requiring sharp attention to detail and hand-eye coordination; hence, I highlight the variety of techniques I use to produce the piece. I also contextualize the artwork in the fields of astronomical art, autobiographical art, and Japanese hanakotoba, or flower language. In doing so, I intend to impart my audience with an expanded understanding of my concept—the process of change, particularly through pain—and an appreciation for my art.
