Abstract
In Implants and Uproots characters are shoved, gently and not-so-gently, into situations that they have been avoiding. Often, they are not ready to confront their own realities, and this just might show readers that they haven't been entirely willing to face their own. Including supposed primates who carry their dead in their pockets ; an overly-effective weight loss scheme ; Danaus plexippus-people who allow their biology telos to define them ; a girl who can't be woken up ; a return to a flock, and a woman haunted by color, this collection of stories wants nothing more than to change worlds.
