Abstract
Rapidly rising home prices and the role increased government regulations play in inducing housing cost increases is examined. A prominent environmental regulation, the development of regional impact process (DRI) which was created in the Land and Water Management Act is then reviewed. The costs associated with the DRI regulation are revealed by interviewing developers of residential DRIs who are selling residential units. The potential price impacts of the associated costs are analysed.
