Abstract

The importance of ancient Greek Numismatics to the historian and the literature about ancient Greek coins in Great Britain is discussed. The British were major contributors to the study beginning in the Renaissance and continuing to the present day. The most important work occurred during the period 1860-1933 and was conducted by writers and researchers associated with the coin room at the British Museum.
