Abstract
This thesis examines Santa Anna's Texas Campaign, 1835-1836. A synopsis of Santa Anna's life and a discussion of Mexican-Texan relations, 1800-1835, present the background for an understanding of the expedition. The campaign begins with the march northward and recounts Mexican victories at the Alamo and other successes prior to and including Goliad. After a month long Mexican pursuit, the opposing forces unexpectedly engage each other at San Jacinto where the Mexican defeat and its aftermath profoundly alter the status of Mexico and Texas.
